Proprietor Mr Douglas Doran first realised the potential in furniture when he won first prize at the 1965 Adelaide Royal Show while still an apprentice cabinet maker. Mr Doran manufactured many items such as dining tables and chairs, sideboards, display cabinets, bed heads, coffee tables and much more while working as a cabinet for his own business, Better Furniture. Many years later Mr Doran opened Doran’s Exclusive Furniture on King William Road with only a third of what is currently there. To keep with the pace of a changing market, Mr Doran stopped producing furniture and now imports the finest quality pieces from all over the world. Doran’s have now been at King William Road for over 20 years and are the exclusive stockists of the Theodore Alexander collection in South Australia.
